About the toolkit
We've developed a toolkit to help you plan and deliver your project.
The framework and templates will guide you through each stage.
The toolkit works with the improvement exchange knowledge base. You can find examples of these tools in different projects and connect with people who have used them.
Documenting ideas
Ideas for improvement projects often come from conversations, planning meetings and management decisions.
While some of these are managed as daily business, others can become improvement projects.
Document these ideas using an opportunity brief [DOCX 547.13 KB] and ask your manager for approval to start your project.
Use the summary template [DOCX 554.48 KB] to refine your ideas, understand the process, and the information we need in your submission.
Creating a business case
Once you get approval from your manager, create a business case [DOCX 661.86 KB] for your project idea.
This helps you understand a project's potential and what's needed to deliver the project and embed the improvement in the business.
Submit your business case to the project sponsor for funding and approval to start.
Planning your project
Your project plan [DOCX 669.69 KB] describes how you and your team will deliver the work.
Planning your project helps to manage your time and budget.
Give your project plan and supporting documents to the project sponsor and project director for approval.
Delivering your project
Use your project plan to implement and deliver your project.
Monitor the project delivery using an action plan [DOCX 193.76 KB].
Report your progress to the project sponsor, project director and process owner using a project status report [DOCX 556.81 KB].
Any changes in scope should be documented and approved by the project sponsor and project director.
Use an evaluation report [DOCX 654.69 KB] to measure the success of your project.
Closing your project
You can use your project to collect valuable experiences for your next project.
Review the project performance with your team and document any learnings.
Use a project close report [DOCX 638.33 KB] to transfer the learnings and deliverables to the process owner.
This will support how the improvement continues in the future and adds value to your team's hard work.
